Jehyun Park, Assistant Manager

Please introduce your team and the work you are in charge of.

My role involves overseeing the production planning, safety, and quality control of blasting caps, which are a type of semi-finished product in the manufacturing of detonators (chemical products). These blasting caps are key components for various types of detonators, including electric, non-electric, and electronic, differentiated by their ignition methods. Additionally, we also provide blasting caps as semi-finished products. Detonators serve the crucial function of triggering explosives. Detonator, blasting cap, chemical product, and all these terms may be unfamiliar with you, so let me explain comparing them to my favorite drink, sparkling water. Just as the process of creating flavored sparkling water varies based on the desired flavor, the production of blasting caps (plain sparkling water) differs according to the ignition method (flavor). Blasting caps, like plain sparkling water, can also be sold as standalone products. Given the nature of our business in semi-finished products, timely supply is essential to align with the production schedules of finished products. Our objective is to produce these items efficiently, tailored to the characteristics of the final product, and deliver them without without any quality issues.

When do you feel rewarded while at work? Tell me about the experience.

My job feels very rewarding. There were big and small accidents in the past dealing with hazardous materials/explosives, and I could see the actual traces of them on the site, so at first I was very scared and anxious. However, lessons were learned from those past experiences making the environment much safer, and I also make sure I am on top of all the safety measures. I am glad that we have an accident-free workplace and are able to produce without accidents. hope that we will continue to maintain the accidents-free status by paying great attention to safety and managing our work environment.

Explain about your team culture or the team atmosphere?

You might perceive Hanwha as a rigid and hierarchical organization, but we actually embrace a softer, more flexible approach. I comfortably share my thoughts and ideas with the team leader and get along with both my seniors and juniors in the team.

Compare yourself to who you pictured before joining the company(what is the same and how is it different).

Before joining the company, I dreamed of a happy and diligent office life, the type of life we often dream about. In that dream life, you would go jogging in the morning with Miracle Morning and when you are at work, you concentrate on your work building your career. After work, you would do some workout and self-development activities, and enjoy your hobbies during the weekends. But it's not easy to live a diligent and relaxed life like this. So far, I am happy to be able to sleep in for 10 more minutes in the morning, and I am usually laying down watching YouTube in bed after work, just resting at home on weekends. I'm satisfied with the relaxed lifestyle that I have, enjoying every moment.

What do you think is the best employee benefit offered by Hanwha Corporation/Global and why?

The refresh leave is incredibly beneficial. It enables you to take your annual leave for 3 to 5 days in a row! This is especially convenient for traveling abroad or for taking a break from work to relax and recharge.

Can you advise the future coworkers on what to study and what skills to develop to do this job?

The realm of explosives and initiating systems might seem unfamiliar and complex to many. However, I believe that more crucial than knowing the chemical reactions involved in explosives is fostering 'chemistry' with colleagues for effective communication and collaboration across different teams. Also, I consider having a mindset focused on how to improve production management to be more important than possessing specific knowledge in this field.
