How do you spend your day?

I start my day at work by checking emails and doing some paper work, such as writing reports related to the projects I'm currently working on. Typically, in the mornings or afternoons, I have meetings to share the progress of work with the team or project members, and we discuss the plans for moving forward. I sometimes participate in meetings with clients or partner. Oh! I also take an in-house English class every Tuseday and Thursday. I think my schedule is different every day rather than repetitive.

Please introduce your team and the work you are in charge of.

I am part of the Business Development Team in the ITM Business Development Office. ITM stands for Information Technology Material, which refers to materials such as gases and chemicals used not only in advanced industries like semiconductors and displays, commonly seen around us, but also in recently trending sectors such as secondary batteries and the aerospace industry. Our team is working to capture business opportunities in the ITM market through continuous monitoring of ever-changing technology trends and market research. We also explore collaboration opportunities utilizing resources and capabilities that Hanwha Group already possesses in silicon and chemicals. We also have a technological partnership for manufacturing/distribution infrastructure. Overall, our team is focused on making our company one of the top players in the ITM market.

When do you feel rewarded while at work? Tell me about the experience.

Evaluating and realizing new business ideas coming from market information, technology trends, and Hanwha Group's capabilities is very meaningful and rewarding for me. Our team exchanges information and discusses new business ideas, generating fresh concepts and then assessing details like business feasibility. However, we face various challenges related to timeline, licensing, and profitability, and some of good ideas never see the light of day. Although it can be tough when facing failures, I believe these challenges are crucial for successful future business launches, making the work feel meaningful and motivating me to work harder.

Explain about your team culture or the team atmosphere?

The culture and atmosphere of our team is the best. As we have a horizontal culture, everyone, including the team leader, freely expresses their opinions during meetings, and often exchange jokes during gatherings such as company dinners which I think creates a happier work environment. In addition, we respect the opinions of others and promote flex seating systems, casual dress code, and flexible working scheme.

Compare yourself to who you pictured before joining the company(what is the same and how is it different).

Before joining the company, I dreamed of leading and managing projects using my skills. Now, while I am in charge of projects, I realize my abilities are not as strong as I thought. I'm working to improve through the training courses offered by the company, but I still feel there's room for improvement. I hope to quickly enhance my skills and become the person I envisioned before joining.

What do you think is the best employee benefit offered by Hanwha Corporation/Global and why?

I haven't had the chance to use them yet, but I think the sabbatical and paternity leave, are the best benefits. As I understand it, the sabbatical is a month of paid leave offered to promoted employees. I thought it was a really great perk seeing colleagues take long overseas trips with their families during this vacation. The paternity leave provides an additional 10 days of paid leave on top of 10-days of mandatory spousal maternity leave. I believe these benefits are helpful not only for myself but also for my family.

Can you advise the future coworkers on what to study and what skills to develop to do this job?

I feel that knowledge and experience in various fields are essential for building business development skills. It will definitely help implement business development tasks. For example, it would be helpful to have accounting knowledge for business feasibility review, process engineering knowledge for business item review, and safety /environment knowledge for business licensing.
